New Coalition Letter Gains 1,400+ Signatories/Revised Shale Gas Rulemaking Proposal Posted/More Press Coverage

Thanks for all of your incredible help in the last 24 hours. A lot has changed. I write to bring you up-to-date.

The NEW COALITION LETTER which requests that Governor Cuomo terminate DEC's revised shale gas rulemaking proceeding and restart the SGEIS already has gained more than 1,400 signatories. That is excellent. We have never gained so many signatories so quickly. PUSH, PUSH, PUSH. Beat the bushes for signatories.

Check out press coverage for the letter in the heart of the proposed Marcellus Shale Gas Demonstration Project region:

DEC has posted its revised regulatory rulemaking proposal:

The public comment period will start 12/12/12 and end 1/11/13.

The revised regulatory proposal is a fantasy wish list of provisions that are inadequate to start with and will never be enforced. Moreover, it makes no sense to continue this proceeding before the DOH "health impact analysis" review is completed and a Final SGEIS is adopted.

In the short run, please sign the Coalition Letter which requests that the Governor:

a) terminate DEC's shale gas rulemaking effort; and

b) restart the Revised Draft Supplemental Generic Environmental Impact Statement proceeding to require public participation in the Department of Health's proposed "health impact analysis" review.

Sign the coalition letter by clicking:

Ask Governor Cuomo to:

Terminate DEC's shale gas revised rulemaking proceeding.

Restart the SGEIS to require public notice, review and comment about how DOH should undertake its "health impact analysis" review.

DEC must not adopt shale gas rules until the SGEIS and the DOH "health impact analysis" review are completed.

No rulemaking should begin until a final decision is made about permitting shale gas fracking in NYS.

Stay on message. Avoid platitudes.
