Urgent "Gelled" Propane Shale Fracking Action Alert
Greetings,
I write to underscore that Governor Andrew M. Cuomo definitely has not "banned" High-Volume Hydraulic Fracking in New York because our state's limited HVHF prohibition exempts all waterless fracking methods.
That is why massive "gelled" propane fracking proposed in Barton, NY is reportedly moving closer to possible permit approval by the Department of Environmental Conservation.
I implore you to take urgent action to kill "gelled" propane fracking in New York before it is too late.
1/27/16 Morning Times Article
According to a recent news article in the Sayre, Pennsylvania Morning Times:
"Progress is slowly being made on a 'propane fracking' proposal that was made public last July, according to the attorney representing the five family group behind the effort.
Adam Schultz, who represents Tioga Energy Partners LLC, said that the group is in the process with the New York Department of Environmental Conservation (DEC) of answering technical questions about the propane fracking proposal.
'We're hoping for a near-term result on a preliminary decision,' he said. 'It's not a final decision - we're still early in the process. Hopefully, we'll have that preliminary result within the month (emphasis added).'"

Possible Fracking Permit Outcomes
DEC could require an individual Environmental Impact Statement for proposed "gelled" propane fracking in Barton, NY or possibly approve permits under the 1992 Generic Environmental Impact Statement (GEIS).
That could lead to propane fracking being permitted in this area near the PA border where there is extensive public support for shale fracking.
Either alternative could circumvent the Supplemental GEIS proceeding completed on 6/29/15.
Call the Governor TODAY at 518 474 8390.
Demand that Governor Cuomo keep his word to prohibit all types of High-Volume Hydraulic Fracturing, including "gelled" propane or Liquefied Petroleum Gas, carbon dioxide and nitrogen foam.
NO WATERLESS FRACKING METHODS MUST BE EXEMPTED FROM NEW YORK'S HVHF PROHIBITION.
Demand that the Governor fulfill the promise in the Final SGEIS Findings Statement that: DEC "will not establish a high-volume hydraulic fracturing permitting program; that no individual or site-specific permit applications for wells using high-volume hydraulic fracturing will be processed; and that high-volume hydraulic fracturing will be prohibited in New York State."
Conclusion
The shale fracking boom has gone bust in our region for now, but it is only a matter of time before natural gas and oil prices recover. That is when shale fracking will surely rear its ugly head again.
While we can, we must require Governor Cuomo to keep his promise to prohibit all forms of High-Volume Hydraulic Fracturing. A Supplemental Findings Statement for the Final SGEIS must be issued to make sure that New York's HVHF prohibition eliminates all types of shale fracking.
Thanks for all your help.
Very best regards,
Walter
