Dear Fractivists,
On 12/31/16, the Cuomo administration granted air discharge permits required for the fracked gas Dominion New Market pipeline expansion project to be built. The Department of Environmental Conservation neither officially announced the permits nor posted them for public review.
This outrageous lack of transparency is a slap in the face of the thousands of Fractivists who respectfully called and wrote Governor Cuomo to request that he kill this proposed fossil fuel monstrosity and adopt a moratorium on all fossil fuel infrastructure approvals.
Toxics Targeting obtained the unreleased permits: Additional Dominion New Market Pipeline Project Documents
Now we know exactly where we stand. Governor Cuomo purports to be a champion in the battle against climate change, but he has perpetuated New York's addiction to fossil fuels for decades to come by authorizing A TOTAL OF FIVE FRACKED GAS PIPELINES AND POWER PLANTS.
I call upon each and every Fractivist to DO WHATEVER IT TAKES to require Andrew Cuomo to rescind his authorization for the Dominion New Market Pipeline.
Otherwise, the Governor would set a precedent for approving fossil fuel pipelines, power plants, compressor stations and gas storage facilities all over New York.
This is when our efforts must really count. Our backs are against the wall. Deluge Governor Cuomo with calls at 518 474 8390. Demand that he rescind authorization for the 200-mile, $159 million proposed pipeline because:
A. DEC cannot safeguard public health or the environment from the toxic polluted Dominion Pipeline. Expanding the pipeline would be irresponsible;
B. The Borger Compressor Station in Ithaca, NY caused extensive chemical contamination adjoining a protected wetland that drains into Cascadilla Creek, a major tributary to Cayuga Lake. The pollution was never cleaned up to state standards. More than 30,000 residents drink water from Cayuga Lake;

C. These existing hazards refute Dominion's assertion that the New Market pipeline project would have "minimal impacts" and that "No permanent loss or permanent impacts to wetlands or waterbodies will result from the project."
D. For these reasons, DEC cannot fulfill its Section 401 Water Quality Certification requirement "that the proposed activity will not violate water quality standards."
