Greetings Activists,

New York just set a deplorable statewide annual record of 206 waterbodies with confirmed Harmful Algal Blooms (HABs). Nearly 1,100 HABs were confirmed all over New York in 2023. There are still dozens of active HABs threatening public health across our state.

This year HABs have been confirmed in critical sources of drinking water for approximately 10 Million New Yorkers. Since we revived our New York Harmful Algal Blooms Cleanup Campaign one month ago, HABs were confirmed in two additional New York City water supply sources: Ashokan and Cross River Reservoirs.

We have now received front-page newspaper, radio and TV coverage for FOUR STRAIGHT WEEKS. Please check out our latest coverage:

Please Call Governor Hochul to Request That She Fulfill Our Coalition Letter Request to Halt HABs: 518 474 8390

Identify the waterbody with HABs that you are concerned about. Demand Total Maximum Daily Load (TMDL) comprehensive Watershed Cleanup Plans for all waterbodies with HABs. Make powerful, informed arguments. Know what you are talking about.

Call and keep calling. Do Not Stop Until You Drop. Promise to Hold Governor Hochul Strictly Accountable for Halting HABs.

Conclusion

If you want to clean up HABs that plague New York's historic waters, please take the effective actions spelled out in this alert. That is what it will take to win this immensely challenging environmental and public health protection battle.

Our powerful campaign is picking up speed. Go Hard. Keep slugging.

I greatly appreciate everyone who has gotten in touch. Thank you for all your hard work. All for one, one for all.

More shortly.

Onward and upward,

Walter
