consider the dangers of hydrofracking

Dear Governor Cuomo:

As a resident of Schoharie County, which sits atop the Marcellus Shale, I implore you to consider the dangers of hydrofracking before allowing drilling to continue in New York State. Horizontal fracking puts air, land and water at risk in every phase of its process. The extremely toxic chemicals that are injected into the gas well find their way into groundwater , poisoning the wells of homeowners.

The toxic chemicals that are removed from the gas wells are then either evaporated into the air or flushed into our rivers as wastewater, contaminating our rivers. There can be no benefits from these life-threatening realities. Adding insult to injury is the fact that these toxic drilling operations lie outside the scope of any meaningful regulation or oversight. Please protect our well water, our air and our beautiful upstate region from poison and degradation. BAN HYDROFRA CKING!
